Inconvenience Me

My Mortal Motto for 2011: Inconvenience Me
I am strengthened by inconvenience. A burger is more convenient than retrieving fresh veggies and preparing a meal using iron skillets/pans with metal/wooden spatulas, infused with patience and joy. The burger will kill.....the inconvenience will strengthen.

My Spiritual Motto for 2011:
The Mastery of Life is Service to Humanity

===========================================
Scientists declare that the quantum energy of microwave radiation is some orders of magnitudes less than required to dissociate covalent bonds and to trigger chemical reactions. It is therefore assumed that no chemical effects can be detectable in microwaved nutrients. Thus, according to scientific research, proteins, fatty acids, vitamins, etc. are not changed. Nevertheless, histological studies with micro waved carrots and broccoli have revealed that the molecular structures of nutrients are deformed by high frequency reversal of polarity, even up to the point of destroying the cell walls, whereas in conventional cooking the cell structures remained intact [3]. Microwaving may even result in the development of new, hitherto unknown substances. The microwave induced reversal of the polarity causes the cells of the nutrients to become destructively polarized, thus free radicals can be created. All radicals have a strong tendency to cause reactions. They can interact with enzymes thus causing a disruption of biological processes. Microwave emission (leakage radiation) of 101 tested domestic microwave ovens.

In addition, through induction the food itself becomes a carrier and secondary source of technically generated radiation. Studies regarding the luminous power of luminescent bacteria revealed a highly significant association between the amount of microwave energy in the test foods and the increased energy in the blood serum of test persons who ate that food. The luminous power of luminescent bacteria exposed to serum from these test persons was significantly greater than that exposed to serum of those persons who had eaten conventionally heated food or raw food, respectively. This led the authors to the conclusion that such technically derived energies may be passed along to man inductively via ingestion of microwaved food
[4, 5].

In a report published in 1980 by the Institute of Radiation Hygiene of the German Federal Office of PubIic Health (BGA) 16 studies were comparatively evaluated with regard to thermic and non-thermic effects of microwave radiation
[6]:

Decrease in enzyme activity and influence on enzyme catalyzed processes;
Influence on the thyroid gland, suprarenal gland and their hormones;
Effect on composition and function of blood components respectively;
Influence on cell growth, and structural changes in chromosomes;
Cataract;

Influence on concentration, blood constituents, and hormones in the brain respectively.
At the end of the 1970s a Forensic Research Document was released in the United States containing alarming findings on the destruction of the nutritive value of foods, development of cancer-causing agents, and direct biological effects of exposure to microwave emissions on humans (Microwave Madness - The Truth Campaign magazine no. 2 p.16-17).

As far back as 1979, Soviet Union banned the use of Microwaves.
There are reports that have been published stating that consumption of food cooked in microwave ovens could cause c*nc^r. They say that microwave cooking changes the basic nutrient structure of food.
And when we consume that, it can cause deterioration in the human system. This school of thought also maintains that besides changing the molecular nature of food through frictional heat, microwave cooking can also deform the structure of molecules. The violent change that microwaving causes to the food molecules forms new life forms called radiolytic compounds. This can create Carcinogens in foods.

The anthroposophist A. Bohmert reported the following discovery in one of her presentations: water samples were heated, some in a microwave oven and others convention ally, and then left to cool down before use. These water samples were used to bring grain to germination. The grain in contact with microwaved water was the only one that did not germinate.

In 1973 two American scientists, P. Czerski and W.M. Leach [9] proved that microwaves cause cancer in animals. The American National Council for Radiation Protection NCRP announced at the end of the 80s that children of mothers exposed to using microwave ovens were found to have an increased rate of malformations.

Early in the 1990s a hospital in Minneapolis, Minnesota, distributed pamphlets warning people against using microwave ovens to heat infant formulas because they altered the food. In 1991 a patient in a hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma, died of anaphylaxis after receiving a blood transfusion for which the blood had been warmed in a micro wave oven. Apparently the microwave irradiation had altered the blood causing the patient´s death. In that very same year the New England Medical Center in Boston stated that the structural and functional integrity of erythrocytes (red blood cells) remained unaltered by microwaving. But then what killed the patient?

A group of scientists at the Stanford University School of Medicine in California discovered that microwaving breast milk at high temperatures (72°C to 98°C) caused a marked decrease in activity of all the tested anti-infective factors. E. coli growth at >98°C was 18 times that of control human milk. Microwaving at low temperatures (20°C to 53°C) had not significant effect on total IgA, but did significantly decrease lysozyme. Even at 20°C to 25°C, E. coli growth was five times that of control human milk. Because microwave radiation lead to a significant loss of the immunological properties of milk the authors concluded that microwaving is definitely "not a suitable heat treatment modality." They assumed that non-thermal as well as thermal effects of microwave radiation must play a decisive role because "the adverse effects on anti-infective factors are difficult to explain on the basis of hyperthermia alone."

In 1992 the Swiss Federal Office for Public Health (BAG) categorically refused to support experiments feeding animals solely on microwaved food to study the effects on health on the following grounds:

"As far as we know today they are not necessary and must be rejected for reasons of animal protection (so-called ´unnecessary´ animal experiments)."
1989 the Swiss biologist Dr. H. U. Hertel proposed to the University of Lausanne to conduct extensive research on the effects of microwaved food on human organisms. Together with Prof. Bernard Blanc he developed a program which was submitted to the Swiss National Fund. The over all costs for the research program were estimated to be approx. 150 000 Swiss francs. However, the National Fund was not prepared to support the study, arguing that there was no need for research in this particular field of science. The two scientists were not prepared to give in so easily and decided to scale down their experiment and bear the costs themselves. Their study on the effects of microwaved food on human beings in comparison to conventionally prepared food proved that food which had been cooked in a microwave oven caused significant changes in the blood immediately after incorporation by the test persons [4, 5]. The authors noted that these changes, some of which could be called highly significant, indicated the beginning of a pathological process, e.g. the beginning of cancer.
Examples of microwave application in the food industry:
Thawing: meat, fish, butter, fruit, berries
Cooking: bacon, potatoes, pies, fish, meat, poultry
Drying: pasta, onions, rice cakes, seaweed (kelp)
Vacuum-drying: citric juices, grain, seeds

"The measurable effects on man through ingestion of microwaved food, unlike untreated food, are blood alterations, that can also be found at the beginning of a pathological condition, as also indicative of a beginning cancerous process."

(Excerpt from a letter Prof. Dr. Bernard Blanc sent to Dr Hans U. Hertel.)

On 28 January 1992, during a TV interview in Kassensturz and in front of the press, Prof. Blanc [former member of the University Institute for Biochemistry, Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) Lausanne] formally disassociated himself from his earlier interpretation of the results of the research he had done together with Dr. Hertel. Although, in February of 1992 he had admitted in an interview with the Basler Zeitung: "This doesn´t mean that no further research should be conducted because the changes in the blood do indicate that irradiated food causes a reaction in the body." However, in a private letter to Dr. Hans U. Hertel, the co-author, he admitted that he feared consequences and that the safety of his family was more important to him than anything else. Do we call that freedom of science and research?

Active Imagination

ACTIVE IMAGINATION

The prima materia at times can manifest as and introduce us to the wholly adversarial other within ourselves. The prima materia is initiation by ordeal, in that it demands that we develop relationship with the other within ourselves, who, paradoxically, is ultimately none other than ourselves (see my article “Meeting the Other Within”). When the alchemists speak of “meditatio” and “imaginatio” (meditation and imagination), they mean, as Jung explains, “…an inner dialogue and hence a living relationship to the answering voice of the “other” in ourselves, i.e., of the unconscious.” The prima materia is a disguised, hidden and projected form of our inner voice and guiding spirit that initiates this dialogue.

Jung called this dialogue with the other within ourselves, between the conscious and the unconscious, “active imagination.” The psychological process of active imagination is the equivalent of the symbolic operations of alchemy. Instead of passively watching the manifestations of the unconscious, in active imagination we fully engage with and actively participate in a conscious relationship with our unconscious. In active imagination we find ourselves being asked to creatively respond and come to terms with the voice of the “other” within ourselves. When an unconscious content is about to become conscious, it first becomes partially conscious, like something that is translucent -- simultaneously visible and invisible. In active imagination, we enter into a creative dialogue with these unconscious contents, facilitating their passage from an unconscious, potential state to a conscious, actual one. Active imagination is the most powerful technique Jung ever encountered for bridging this gap and metabolizing, digesting and assimilating the contents of the unconscious and hence, becoming conscious. As Jung so eloquently articulates, “Becoming conscious of an unconscious content amounts to its integration in the conscious psyche and is therefore a coniunctio Solis et Lunae [Sun and Moon].” A conjunction of Sun and Moon symbolizes a coming together and union of opposites. Making unconscious contents conscious is equivalent to alchemically liberating the spirit that is imprisoned in matter.

When we are unconsciously identified with the contents of our unconscious, we cannot see these contents, as being identical with them, we have not separated ourselves from these contents so as to be able to see them as objects. These unconscious contents are still too much a part of our frame of reference through which we interpret our experience for us to examine them with any objectivity. Before we can integrate a content of the unconscious, we must distinguish ourselves from it. In active imagination, we “objectify” the contents of our unconscious by creatively giving them shape and form, thereby making them into an object that we, as subject, are separate from, and with whom we have an interactive relationship and dialogue. Jung comments, “The essential thing is to differentiate oneself from these unconscious contents by personifying them, and at the same time to bring them into relationship with consciousness. That is the technique for stripping them of their power.” Personifying and entering into conscious relationship with the figures of our unconscious as if they are autonomous, independent living entities takes away their compelling power over us.

Any constellated, unconscious content which we are not in relationship with possesses us from behind and beneath our conscious awareness. When we are unconscious of something that is activated within us, we are identified with it and are compelled to act it out unconsciously in our life. When we are unconscious of something that is kindled within us, Jung writes, “it moves us or activates us as if we were marionettes. We can only escape that effect by making it conscious and objectifying it, putting it outside of ourselves, taking it out of the unconscious.” When fully objectified, we not only take away the unconscious content’s power over us, but we are able to access and unite with the power which animates it in a way which empowers ourselves.

By objectifying these inner figures, we dis-identify from them and give a body and voice to these seemingly autonomous, disembodied and dismembered parts of ourselves who appear to have a mind of their own and simply need translation into the third-dimensional, spatio-temporal medium of matter. It is not hard to objectify the contents of the unconscious, as being autonomous, they seemingly possess an identity all their own, so they naturally have a tendency to spontaneously personify themselves within our psyche. Contemplating the archetypal paradox of how the solution is encoded in the seeming problem, Jung continues, “Their autonomy is a most uncomfortable thing to reconcile oneself to, and yet the very fact that the unconscious presents itself in that way gives us the best means of handling it.” This “best means” is the process of active imagination.

To stop identifying with these unconscious contents is to step out of our inflated thinking that we, as seemingly independent, egoic agents existing in time, are creating the contents of our unconscious. Jung comments, “closer study shows that as a rule the images of the unconscious are not produced by consciousness, but have a reality and spontaneity of their own.” Paradoxically, thinking that we are creating the contents of the unconscious assures that we are in the thrall of and being created by the unconscious. Having its own logic and being beyond our control, the unconscious is truly autonomous, in that we, as ego, are not writing its script. On the contrary, to the extent that we are identified with a content of the unconscious, it is writing our script.

Speaking about his own personal experience, Jung writes in his autobiography that it was actually animated figures within his imagination that “…brought home to me the crucial insight that there are things in the psyche which I do not produce, but which produce themselves and have their own life.” Seemingly living, autonomous figures existing inside of Jung’s imagination, figures whom Jung subjectively experienced as other than himself, revealed and literally taught Jung to recognize the autonomous nature of the psyche. Speaking about one such inner figure, Jung comments, “In my fantasies, I held conversations with him, and he said things which I had not consciously thought. For I observed clearly that it was he who spoke, not I.” Jung was “hearing voices,” which in his case as well as in many others, was not a pathological phenomenon, but an illumination (thank God for all of us that he didn’t get “medicated” out of his illumination by psychiatry). These inner figures helped Jung understand “that there is something in me which can say things that I do not know.” There is a figure in us who knows us better than we know ourselves.

13 - Hanged Man - 40 - Mem

13
The Hanged Man

40: Mem

Keyword: Organic resistance/response
Formative symbolism: The Tower fallen into existence. Active resistance transformed into the passive resistance of the Waters, where Adam is suspended. Element: Water
Dallet (4) finds its purveyor in the maternal waters, Mem (40), where all life originates. Tav (400) is the exaltation of the entire cosmic existence in its utmost capacity to resist to life-death

Mem is the second mother letter. It symbolizes the Waters, the passive resistance of the biosphere, enabling all impulses and forms to come into being. The oppositions of Aleph in various forms and the Waters will recur repeatedly: Shamaim, (Heavens) Meadim (Mars) Teomaim (Gemini), Mozenaim ( Libra). All these words describe structures in which the forces of life-death (Aleph) and existence (Yod) are related in different ways.

The Hanged Man (Mem/40) passively accepts the light, and can be transfigured in Mem, final, 600, cosmic fruitfulness. In the primary triads, it is Water, Mother, Salt and Tamas. The elemental symbolism of all three Mothers letters is transparent. Why is the Hanged Man upside down?

Air Water Fire

It seems a little much to believe the creators of the Tarot would create iconic themes and not use them. In the case of the Tower and its projection into existence, the Hanged Man, we have the only two Tarot trumps with upside-down figures. The progression is obvious: the figures of the Tower fall into the Hanged Man, justs as the Fool steps into the World (or any of our other examples of symbolic transformations). The iconic and thematic symbolism of the column of 4-40-400 is transparent: resistance: archetypal/active, existential/passive and cosmic/exalted.

The Column of Fours
3 4 5
30 40 50
300 400 500

Waite gives the Hanged Man a Tau cross, and unconsciously or not, combines the red and blue dress of the Tower's falling figures. Early representations used a scaffold with two side supports parallel to the black and white pillars of the High Priestess when she is found in her true place.

While most of the Tarot are tranparently based on astrological symbolism (Lion/Leo, Scales/Libra, Sun/Sun etc.) The three Mother letters all rely on their formative meanings for their representations. Aleph/Highest Thought for the Fool, the Breath of God (Rouhh Elohim) and Sheen for Angel and three risen figures of Judgement. The question of why the Hanged Man for Mem takes us directly into the integrated formative iconography of the Tarot, which often cannot be seen until the Tarot are restored to their correct positions and correct order. In this case, the Hanged Man must be seen in the context of the Tower and the High Priestess, neither of which are in their correct places in traditional Tarot.

Once restored, we can see the clear development of the themes of upright supports and falling figures. Dallet, archetypal active resistance, symbolized by the Tower, di-vides. Existential Mem, perfectly symbolized by the Hanged Man, where the fall of the Tower has been suspended, the figures combined in the perfect symbol of passive resistance. These two are then combined in the final letter of the Hebrew alphabet, Tav, cosmic resistance, the end and the beginning and the door to cosmic life.

Mem

40 40

Gematria: 80/640
Biological: Organ: There are inter-actions of atoms which constitute a network of ways of communications (the Endo-plasmic Reticulum ). The plasma is the liquid part of the blood.

Suares:   Dallet-Mem-Tav (4.40.400): the physical resistance of structures, Dallet (4) finds its purveyor in the maternal waters, Mem (40), where all life originates. Tav (400) is the exaltation of the entire cosmic existence in its utmost capacity to resist to life-death. The root Dallet-Mem (Dam) is "blood" in Hebrew and the root Mem-Tav (Met) is "death." Thus the two together express the complete cycle of existence.

Mem (40) as in Maim (waters) has practically no resistance, it's strength being in it's fluidity and ability to assume any form, and is responsive to forces acting on it. In fluid mechanics water is often imagined to be a perfect fluid without resistance and thus as a projection of Dallet (4) we see another example of opposites. However, Mem also responds as the waters and is vital to life as we understand it.      Suares, Spectrograms

Mem: spelled Mem-Mem: 40-40. Mem, like Waw, contains only a copy of itself. The gematria of Mem-Mem is 40+40 = 80, Phay, the sum of actual possbilities. The structure for actualizing them is Mem-Yod-Mem, the passively resistant Waters (Mayim is waters in Hebrew) of existence, which nuture all life. The gematria of Mayim is 40+40+10 = 90
